When Bugaboo was born, I didn't know what to do with him. My friend shared this video with me and now I would like to share it with you. Number nine made me laugh! Other ideas on how to play with your newborn:
- playing or singing with hand/finger puppets
- gently bouncing on an exercise ball
- checking the mail or taking a short walk and pointing at things as you pass by
- watching something rhythmic like a ceiling fan, mobile, or fire
- looking at photos of family members
- looking at black and white pictures of shapes and patterns
- making silly faces
- imitating your baby's sounds

That guy in the video cracks me up big time! I was smiling at most of his parts.
Love the tips. My first thought when I saw the article was that this is a good one for me to bookmark or hold onto.
Just from a clinical viewpoint, this is a great time to figure out your little boy/girls sensory profile. It occurred to me when the mommy was doing the games - she was speaking so loudly. Does your baby respond better to loud or soft voices, what textures does he/she like/dislike, does he like a light touch or deeper pressure massages, what smells, etc. I'm sure you figure this all out on your own, but we take sensory profiles for all our new clients and it popped into my head immediately. Not that you need a checklist, but figuring out what he/she respond to best...
