Catch Phrase

Caden's latest catch phrases:

  • Mon, guys! (C'mon, guys) Caden says this to me when he wants me to follow him (usually to the kitchen for a snack). Cracks me up every time.
  • Yes, coming! He answers all questions like this even if there is no "coming" involved, such as, "Would you like to color?" "Yes, coming!" He picked it up from me because whenever he asks for something I'm usually busy, so I say, "One moment, I'm coming."
  • Cosa door (close the door) He recently desired privacy while going to the bathroom and insisted we close the door. But the phrase also extends to anything he wants closed: the cupboards, cereal box tops, and anything else for which he doesn't know the word.
  • Ca down (calm down) He said this to me for the first time today. I wasn't even riled up or anything. I had just thrown up and was sad, so he told me in a stern voice to calm down and then smiled and told me to be happy.
His favorite food: homemade taquitos!

Silly Boys

Caden isn't the only goofy guy in the house:

I got Caden to return to his shower by doing bubbles during bath time. He figured out he can catch them!

A couple days ago Caden discovered his old exersaucer in his closet and asked me to take it out so he could play with it. Then he asked to get inside it!

Spinning round and round

He used to be little.

As a baby, he soon figured out he could make it rock back and forth, and he would do it so violently I was afraid he would tip it over, and so loudly it drove me crazy! Now he just likes sitting in it while watching Curious George. I can't believe my baby's not a baby anymore!

Breastfeeding Funnies

Why did the baby cross the road?
To nurse on the other side!

What is a breastfed baby's favorite candy bar?
Milky Way!

You should still work out though ;)

So true! I think I pumped 7 oz. only a couple times.

Don't even get me started on this one...

5 Exercises You Can Do While Sitting in a Chair

If you're like me and spend a lot of time sitting in a chair, here are some exercises for you to try:
  1. March in place.
  2. Bounce your baby in your lap (or bounce a heavy object if you don't have a baby) and feel the burn in your thighs!
  3. Hit your knees together.
  4. Using your abs, don't let your feet touch the floor. If you're short like me and your feet don't touch the floor anyway, lift them up higher or straighten them out and raise them to chair level.
  5. Straddle the chair (a leg on each side instead of to the front) and do calf raises. This will also stretch out your inner thighs.

High School Sweethearts?

Sometimes I wonder whether or not Justin and I would have liked each other in high school had we gone to the same one. Justin says he would have liked me but I wouldn't have liked him; I say neither of us would have been interested in the other. Here's why:

Justin would not have liked me because
  • high school wasn't my best-looking years, particularly in the fashion area.
  • I was a snob.
  • I had no idea how to act around boys.
  • I was a nerd and his friends would have made fun of him.
I would not have liked Justin because
  • I hated football players. Even if I had liked him I would have hated his friends (at least the ones at my high school, can't say about his). And I would have hated going to football games.
  • he was a show-off.
  • he was two years older than me and I didn't like guys more than a year older (or younger) than me back then.
  • did I mention I hated football players?
Notice how all but one have to do with me and my attitude, not Justin? It's a good thing we met in college! Though I still hate football. ;)

Orange You Glad

I definitely have a pregnancy food craving this time: oranges and orange juice! I eat 2-4 oranges and drink 2-5 glasses of pulpy orange juice a day! Normally I only drink 1 glass a week and only buy oranges in the summer. Now oranges always taste good, don't leave a nasty aftertaste in my mouth, and stay down. And oj comes back up sweet, not acidic, so if I eat something that I think will come back up and come back up extra gross, I will drink some oj to cancel out the taste.

This baby has me eating healthy all around too: fruit, raw veggies, sweet potatoes, squash, cashews, oatmeal. Sometimes I will eat meals, but usually I just snack. Occasionally I will want to eat something rich, but once it's in front of me, I change my mind. My normal self misses eating dessert, but my pregnant self has no desire to!

Do/did you have pregnancy cravings?

Ready, Set, Go!

That's Caden's favorite phrase right now. He says it when playing cars or just moving from one place to another--he will stop and then run to the location after "go." He is starting to talk more too and say words correctly.

Yesterday out of nowhere he asked to play cats. He started crawling around the floor and meowing and then had me do it too. I showed him how to scratch the furniture.

Then he became a dog and tried jumping on all fours. It ended up more like a shuffle. He also tried a horse, but that only made him want a horsey ride on me.

Caden is super affectionate right now, always giving big hugs, kisses, and smiles without being asked. When I'm sad or crying he comforts me. And when he gets hurt I have to kiss his owies before he goes off and plays again!

Caden has been on a nap strike for the last couple weeks. Once I got pregnant we napped together, but now he fights nap time. Sometimes nap time fights back:

Other past photos I never shared:

He's gotten good at walking in our shoes and putting them on the right feet!

He wanted to read my book.

They Hatched!

The two little eggs on my window sill finally hatched. I'm not sure exactly when though. They are so cute and fluffy (well, as far as I can see, which is only their back end!), it's hard to imagine they will grow up to be yucky, annoying pigeons. These are the best photos I could get due to the filthiness of the windows thanks to said bird family. I almost got a good one, but then the mom saw me.

Dad on left, Mom on right in nest

That brown mass is the chicks' rear ends.

Zulily.com, My New Favorite Site!

If you are looking for a great deal site for clothes, accessories, and home decor for women and children, Zulily.com is for you! Right now they have the cutest things on sale in preparation for spring and summer. I joined a while ago but didn't really get into it, but now that I'm pregnant I'm finding all sorts of wonderful things I want! I wish I knew what I was having, because then I would buy all these cuties for Baby!

I love this sweet and simple, classic-style dress!

I love Americana!

This outfit made me laugh and reminded me of Caden's brief biting-while-nursing phase. Glad that didn't last long! Maybe buying this would jinx the next one to be a biter.

I also fell in love with the citrus kitchen collection. It made me wish I had a house with a beautiful patio and backyard where I could throw a lunch party. I would get the whole set of place mats, napkins, and dish towels in this bright and cheerful design!

There is also a matching apron set! So cute!

But I also like this apron and matching oven mitts and these colorful dish towels.

And last of all, this beautiful drink dispenser!

Check out more amazing things at amazing prices at Zulily.com!
