Loved it and agree 100%. I choose my words really carefully with the kids I work with. Instead of I'm proud of you, "It must feel really good to have accomplished that!"

We talk about failure a lot and not giving up. When an assignment is difficult for them, but they persevered through, they get huge reinforcement. I think when you choose your words carefully, you are not only bringing focus in their mind on what is important, but on yours as well. You therefore parent and live more directly. That's my thought anyway. :)

Thank you, Francine! The talk and your comments have shown me how to change my parenting approach. What are some other things you commonly say to your kids, particularly when it comes to discipline?
