Growing Up

Gabriel is 4 months old! He is no longer a newborn. At his appointment he weighed in at 15 lbs. and measured 25 inches long. He is at the 50th percentile for height, weight, and head circumference.

First time wearing shoes.
He discovered his voice after Thanksgiving and loves to talk. He likes when you imitate his sounds, and if you laugh he laughs back. He's very ticklish too and enjoys being eaten and kissed. He discovered his hands and feet. I think he looks so cute when he grabs his toes!

Gabe is teething. He slobbers and gnaws like crazy. On the 17th he rolled from his tummy to his back during tummy time and is really close to doing the vice versa. He also has great neck control and can sit up by himself for a few seconds. He still is not really interested in toys (except for trying to eat them and then being disappointed that he can't). He prefers face-to-face conversations. He hates being in his bouncer, Bumbo, exersaucer, or on the floor, and only tolerates the crib when he wants to sleep. My favorite is the way his face lights up when he sees me or Justin once he wakes up.

Great head control!

Caden shared his teddy bear with Gabe

First time in the exersaucer.

Gabe finally enjoys singing too. His favorite song is "If You're Happy and You Know It." He is a huge kicker: he kicks when he is excited, needs to poop, or is in the tub (his favorite). EC is going very well. His night sleeping hasn't changed, unfortunately. We're going to have to move the crib into our bedroom because he is too big for the bassinet and when he wakes up, Caden wakes up too.

Both boys sleep/slept like that

Still a thumb sucker

Speaking of Caden, he has had some developments as well. He was out of Pull-ups for a while, but these past few days he's been having issues again. He had a bad accident yesterday and didn't even tell me; that is very unusual for him.On the bright side, he has been sleeping in his own bed all night again.

Kissing Gabe during reading time

Caden figured out paper clips are magnetic.

Caden has learned how to give proper kisses. He kisses everything, even the bottoms of his shoes, so we had to set some boundaries. He is talking even more and remembering words he has only heard once. He loves to dance and has rhythm; we just need to work on his moves! His latest movie favorites have been The Sword in the Stone, Wreck-It Ralph, and The Lorax, all of which I enjoy too.

I can't believe how fast my children are growing up!

Gabe is so strong! You can really see it in the photos on his tummy and in the exersaucer. I see so much of Justin in him.

It's so cute that both of your boys sleep with their hands behind their head. Jules has never even gotten close to that position, so it's def. a Nishimoto thing, not just an ALL BABY type thing.

I hear that regressions in potty training sometimes align with an advancement in some other developmental area. So maybe it's going along with the explosion in language or something else that is soon to come up. I'm super impressed with his paper clip Thomas creation - so creative and intelligent! Oh and I'm not surprised he has rhythm with you two as his parents.

It was a really fun update to read and you will be able to look back on it to reference in future years. You really have two adorable little boys.

Oh and I just noticed that Gabe is playing with the Kringelring rattle (the colorful wooden one). It has really good reviews, but I never could bring myself to buy it for Jules. Do you like it?

Thank you for your wonderful comments! The rattle is the one you bought for Caden when he was a baby and we like it.
